What kinds of trash can I put in the dumpster?

This is especially true of our specialty construction dumpsters. Those are to be reserved for construction materials only. What can't go in a dumpster?

Even though we can take most things off your hands, we can't take everything in our dumpsters (PROHIBITED ITEMS IN DUMPSTERS). Some materials that are hazardous are not welcome in the landfills because they can damage the environment. These include wet paints, items containing Freon (like refrigerators or air conditioners), and hazardous chemicals. Other unacceptable items include car tires or batteries and railroad ties. There also may be some items that are prohibited into dumpsters your specific area. Some items, like mattresses and box springs or appliances, are not accepted into certain landfills. Your customer service representative can inform you of these when you call to place the order. Many of these items can be recycled at other locations.

Can my debris be heaped up in the dumpster?

Unfortunately, no. It is important that when you are filling up your dumpster, you do not exceed the side walls of the dumpster. When we send a driver to go pick up your dumpster, he will roll and secure a tarp over the top. This is to hold in the contents and ensure that it will be safe to haul over the road. If there are items sticking up over the top and the driver is unable to roll the tarp over the dumpster, it becomes unsafe for the truck to drive over the road. Debris could potentially escape and fly onto the road, becoming a hazard for other drivers. In this case, the driver will not pick up the dumpster, and you will be charged a reroute fee for the attempted pick up and for the driver to come back at a later time. To avoid that fee, always keep the path to your dumpster clear for the pick-up and keep the debris level to the top of the dumpster.
