It actually is possible to turn waste into electrical energy thanks to improved technologies. The concept of burning trash has been around for centuries, but only recently has it been adopted for producing electricity. The basic concept is to take loads of common municipal waste, think plastic, food waste, and other common refuse, and loading it into a giant furnace.
