What Kinds of Items are Prohibited?
There are a number of items that our dumpster rental service in Sherwood can't handle. This includes the broad categories of toxic, flammable, and corrosive materials. The most common hazardous waste includes normal household products ranging from paint to cleaning sprays. These items can contaminate landfills and recycling processes and are usually forbidden from being disposed of through regular trash services.
Specific examples of prohibited items include car batteries, tires, lacquers, oils, gasoline, propane tanks, industrial drums, railroad ties, food waste (in general), and chemicals. Most of these items can be disposed of by using local recycling or other waste management facilities. Sherwood's sanitation department/public works department should be able to provide you with a list of available companies who can handle any of the above for you.
Does it Matter Where I Keep my Dumpster?
Yes and no. The only real rule we have about delivering dumpsters is that they be placed on paved surfaces. We also don't leave our dumpsters on steep inclines, so the flatter the delivery area the better. Most customers will choose to keep their dumpsters in their driveway. This is the easiest place to park a dumpster and also makes the bin easily accessible. Construction companies can choose to place their dumpsters anywhere on their work site so long as they meet the aforementioned delivery requirements.
Customers can also choose to have their dumpsters kept on public streets. However, our Sherwood dumpster rental service cannot do this by default. The customer must obtain a street permit from town hall before we will be allowed to drop off the bin at the location. If a permit is granted, we will need a copy for our records.
